Continuem a ler o artigo completo.

EN: I intended to make the set using two different colors (caramel and baby blue fine stable knit with great draping qualities) but I managed to cut both pants and tunic from the length of caramel knit (it was a little less than 4 yards) so I went with it instead. I cut my usual size 14 and my alterations were:
- added 3/4" to the waist;
- centered the pants back darts since all sizes came with the same dart position and I think the placement that works best for me is centered).
---
EN: The pattern instructions are good and the tunic came together easily. I always recommend interfacing the zipper placement area and besides that I also applied soft interfacing to the front band; it will become more structured since it is not used as an elastic casing (the elastic goes on the back alone).
---
EN: The part of the instructions that may seem more daring is the treatment of the band at the side seams. The back band works as a casing and it is sewn to the back first; the elastic is inserted and tacked at the ends before the right side seam is closed; the side seam is closed with the front facing unfolded, as seen in the next photo, and the back seam allowance is clipped close to the casing so it may lay flat, while the casing is towards the front band:
---
EN: The front band is then turned down and slip-stitched and the wrong side of the right side seam at the band looks like this:
---
EN: The left side takes the invisible zipper so the side seam is stitched below the zipper end notch an the zipper is sewn (using the invisible zipper foot) to the front with the unfolded band and to the back, right on top of the elastic casing (here be careful not to stitch too close of the coils or you won't be able to zip it up because of the elastic added bulk). I slip-stitched the casing allowance to the back to keep it secure and ended up top-stitching it with the sewing machine, just to prevent the elastic from straining the zipper.
---
EN: AT this stage you can sew a little bias loop to the elastic tape, before turning down the front band and slip-stitching it in place:
---
EN: Here's how it looks from the right side:
---
PT: É assim que fica do direito do trabalho:
EN: One last detail on the tunic is the finishing of the hem and side slits; there shouldn't be raw edges or serged seams visible because the wrong side will show as you walk, so this is how I finished the side slits and hem (turned in twice narrow along the slits and turning in 3/8 on top of the hem):
---
EN: Here's the finished tunic on the dressform; the pleats are tacked from the inside just below the waist to avoid the "maternity look" and the tunic looks very sharp and elegant:
---
EN: The pants look quite simple and easy but the instructions for the waistband unfold a method which I hadn't tried yet; the waistband is folded in half wrong sided facing before it is sewn to the waist of the pants and then folded in again and stitched in the ditch for a very narrow and filled effect waistband; since I am using a knit with some give crosswise, I cut my waistband lengthwise and fused it with thin knit fusible for added stability. My Clover Wonder clips (courtesy of a very dear friend in New York) were a great aid because my pins would have been bent with all those layers of fabric:
---
EN: Here I am using my special purpose Pfaff "stitch in the ditch foot", removing the clips as I go:
---
EN: On such a tiny waistband the only security closure is the good old hook&eye:
---
EN: Here's a photo that shows the finishing on the right side:
---
EN: You must agree with me, the end result was quite outstanding! As usual there are more photos of me wearing the set on Tany et La Mode (here). Enjoy and thanks for your visit and kind comments!
---

Tany - I love this color on you! It's so striking. I also love all the little details that you put into your sewing which takes it to the couture level. Will have to remember the loop and button closure at the top of the invisible zipper.

as usual your sewing is perfection. This look is so interesting, I wasn't impressed when I saw the pattern but you have made it into a chic and interesting outfit. also love your shorter haircut!
